With the hurricane Sandy still fresh in our minds, we should look at what it takes to keep our business ‘up and running’ if something similar happens to Western Washington.
Did you know that An estimated 40% of businesses don’t reopen after a disaster. Of those that do reopen, 25% fail within one year. (data from Federal Emergency Management Agency)
We need to
- Recognize the potential threats (easy in this area: Wind/Ice Storms, some flooding in some places, Earthquake and the big one — Mount Rainier)
- Back up your computer data – regularly
- Develop a business continuity plan
Start with planning to plan, if nothing else. How will you contact your employees? How will you ensure your Business continuity.
